Healing is the remedy for illnesses and diseases.
Healing in the Bible is not restricted to physical curing of diseases and illnesses alone, but it includes the restoration of individuals to a status within their families and communities.
The forgiveness of sins by God through His compassionate love and mercy, the casting out of demons and the cleansing of lepers allow individuals access to God.
Healing is an extension of God's grace to individuals bound by different types of oppressive spirits. It involves the fundamental human relationship with God and his community.
The reality is not based on the physical healing of the body but the whole human person. To be healthy is to be whole spiritually and physically.
The purity of mind enhances the divine image of God in us which brings us both spiritual and physical healing. In this context, healing is the remedy for sins, spiritual and psychological illnesses. It is the remedy for emotional, personal and communal disorderly living.
The understanding of God as a healer was confirmed by the miraculous deeds of Jesus Christ, anointed with the Holy Spirit and power, he went about doing good, healing those who were under the grip of satan and his demons (Acts 10:38).
Jesus demonstrated that the kingdom of God and His love has broken into the human society, in this sphere, God is offering the human society His love and all His creative redemptive powers. Jesus demonstrated two major aspects of healing: The spiritual and the physical.
In the modern time, the physical includes the psychological dimension of the human person in the realms of memory, and imagination or the conscious and the subconscious level of the human personality.
The biblical narratives of the healings and miracles of Jesus Christ was seen as breaking of God's saving power into the human society, an attestation of the presence of God among his people.
God heals because of His compassionate love. Jesus Christ healing power shows His true expression and character of God. His healing power was a sign of God's fulfilment of the words and deeds of the prophets: the blind sees, the lame walked, sins were forgiven, lepers were cleansed and the good news preached (Matt 11:2-6).
Every person is invited to receive this healing which is available right now in the healing ministry of Jesus Christ.
